Software for Documenting and Reconstructing the Fixture Wiring

for REINHARDT ATS-KMFT 670 Test Systems

Option for test fixture documentation, reconstruction, construction, support of repair with fast fault location - all graphically supported

In the test bay of electronics production, test fixtures are required for contacting electronic PCBs. They use a bed-of-nails (spring-suspended contact pins) and/or connectors for an electrical connection between the electronic PCB and the In-circuit- and Function test system. Again and again, these test fixtures e.g. for electronic PCBs must be built again, must be reproduced or repaired because of rising production lots, production at another site, vandalism or theft. For that you need a complete documentation. But in practice, in many companies the test wiring of the in-circuit and function test wiring is not documented as carefully as necessary if at all, since  this takes a lot of efforts and time

If you have to build such an existing fixture anew, this is very costly and almost impossible for somebody who is not used to it. A lot of wiring mistakes happen then which again must be located with a lot of efforts.

REINHARDT System- und Messelectronic GmbH is known for its problem- and practice-oriented and user-friendly solutions and has therefore developed a solution for this problem. Even somebody who does not know the REINHARDT test system and its fixturing, must be able to create a 1:1-copy of this fixture. He only needs a common PC with WINDOWS XP/VISTA® and this software module.
Another special feature of this software is that it supports you in building a test fixture for the in-circuit and function test. This software not only takes into account the known connector allocation of the REINHARDT-test systems, but typical additional modules which are needed in the function test, be that a special bus (e.g. Fieldbus) or signals which especially generated on a additional board etc. They are also taken into account and can also be documented. Faults in the fixture wiring and connections can never be absolutely avoided. Simply clicking on the resp. module or the stimulus and measuring module displays, where the wiring ends, but at the same time all the other stimulus and measuring or external modules which are connected to the point. A crosshairs clearly marks the resp. spring-suspended contact pin, if used. This multiple allocation is very common in function test, but as well in the combined in-circuit and function test, such as e.g. on an in-circuit-function measuring point were not only a measurement is taken, but where in function test a signal has to be applied at this point.

This software also is for documenting existing in-circuit and function test programs, as it uses the comments/information and assignations of the sources and then creates a wiring plan. In an existing in-circuit test program, the wiring is documented without additional entries by integrating the software for fixture documentation.

The picture shows how easily you can reconstruct a fixture with an existing in-circuit and function test program. The individual hardware modules are chosen with the resp. registers. Then the resp. hardware is connected. If the programmers of the test system have entered additional information in creating the test program, this information is of course integrated and gives additional support.
